Crafting the Vision: My Roles

As Production Designer

As Production Designer, my role was to enhance the storytelling through the environment. Focusing on themes of closeness and intimacy, I aimed to create spaces that felt comforting and personal throughout most of the film. In contrast, I used colder, more distant environments during moments of conflict to visually underscore the emotional tension.

As Director of Photography

Our director emphasised the importance of creating a sense of closeness, aiming to draw the audience into the characters' relationship. I achieved this through the use of close-ups during moments of emotional intimacy, paired with handheld shots to immerse the audience in the scene. By keeping the camera movements natural and fluid, I was able to enhance the feeling of being a part of the characters' world.

As Editor and Colour Grader

I was also heavily involved in the editing process. I was able to gain experience using DaVinci Resolve 17 to edit and colour grade this film. I was able to develop a good understanding of pacing, and had the opportunity to further refine my vision as a designer for the film. In particular, I used colour contrasts between warm and cool tones to highlight key emotional moments, reinforcing the emotional shifts throughout the story.
